Since 1964 the Castle works in Organic farming.

Our grounds are worked and our wine is produced according to the quality standards of the organic farming. The épamprage and stripping are manual. We fertilize by composting in heap or the surface. We weed manually or mechanically by the ploughings. We use neither of artificial flavours, neither of yeasts nor of enzymes. Moreover our vineyard is protected from pollution by wood, far from the factories, of the primary distributors and the vineyards working in conventional agriculture. It has a guarantee in conformity with certification Ecocert SAS.

We commit ourselves cultivating our products without artificial fertiliser, without organic pesticide of synthesis, without weeding chemical, on grounds fertilized with organic manures, powders of rocks, sediments, marine algas. Our cultures are treated only with mineral products and extracts of plants.

On the whole of Serious name AOC, we are only 4 fields out of 380 to work in certified Organic farming ECOCERT SAS.

Our currency:

- To produce quality. To be more autonomous. To be a nonpolluting exploitation

- To be respectful men, animals, plants and planet.

- To guarantee the health of those which surrounds us.

2 - What is what Organic farming?

Definition: The organic farming is an agriculture which endeavours to respect the laws of the life and nature. It is the respect of the ground, the environment, our inheritance and the man. It is a whole of intelligent and nonpolluting practices having to converge towards an at the same time pleasant, social and ecological Progress.

The organic farming employs, neither artificial fertilisers, neither pesticides of syntheses, nor other products such as conservatives, dyes, emulsifiers, which are more or less harmful, for the environment, the ground, the air, the health of the plants, the animals and especially the men.

The biological quality of a food, it is its food value, nutritive, i.e. its aptitude to nourish and maintain in good health that which consumes it. The vine growers of the organic farming are those which can best preserve particular qualities of the wines of their soil. For that, they implement very studied techniques in which tradition and modern agriculture are neighbourly.

3 - Which are the conditions to respect?

There exist 8 laws: - a suitable environment - a suitable ground - a favorable climate - a natural fertilization and conforms to the needs for the plant - a life in partnership with other plants, rotations and with animals - a respect of the form, in the manner of growing, practices of the plant - a selection of the quantity, quality, rusticity - normal outputs.

4 - From which does the word organic farming come?

All occurs about 1955, one was to decide to choose a name for this agriculture without running up against the conventional farmers. At the meetings several names had been proposed:

- Nonpolluting Agriculture or cleansing agriculture but that to let think that there was different with dimensions polluting agriculture, it was delicate.

- Organic Agriculture: it was a term used by American and that represented more of the manure than another thing, i.e. a processed product.

- Ecological Agriculture but at the time it was a still unknown term. Thus organic farming was the most suitable term.

6 - Why not with the artificial fertilisers?

Once comparable by the plant, they short-circuit the work of the micro-organisms of the ground. One can then see an intoxication, a habituation with the product. The consequences are major: pollution generated by their employment and their manufacture, unbalances plant which becomes more sensitive to certain ravageurs, changes of certain supported colonies, genetics of the micro-organisms disturbed, abnormal development of these micro-organisms.

7 - Why not with the pesticides of synthesis?

The pesticides are intended products to destroy harmful organizations with the man, the animals and the plants:
